Congress opens IS Sadan Division office in Hyderabad Old City

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) on Thursday inaugurated the IS Sadan Division office, marking a renewed organisational push in the Old City ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

Hyderabad DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah formally opened the office in the presence of Yakutpura Assembly constituency in-charge K Ravi Raj and senior leaders Bheem Arjun Reddy, Kotla Srinivas and Krishna Kumar. Party workers and supporters from nearby areas attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Saifullah said the new office marked the beginning of a broader plan to strengthen the Congress in areas where the organisation had remained weak for several years. He announced that the party would open similar offices in all 44 wards under the Hyderabad DCC.

IS Sadan Division office to anchor grassroots restructuring

Saifullah explained that the initiative formed part of a structured organisational revamp aimed at reinforcing the party at the grassroots level. He said the Congress planned to reconnect with Old City residents by understanding local issues and ensuring their concerns found a place in governance.

The DCC president added that the party was preparing for a detailed strategy meeting to finalise ward-level plans ahead of the GHMC polls. He also highlighted the strong response to the Congress’s online application process for various organisational posts, which received thousands of applications before the January 4 deadline.

According to Saifullah, the response indicated growing public interest in the Congress under the current state leadership. He said welfare schemes in the Old City had already started delivering visible benefits.

More than 70 per cent of the Old City population, he said, now benefits from initiatives such as free bus travel for women, new ration cards and free fine rice. He also pointed to progress on the long-pending Old City Metro Rail project, noting that development work had finally begun after decades.

Saifullah concluded by stating that the Congress remained focused on rebuilding public trust while laying the groundwork for long-term development in neglected parts of Hyderabad.
