Delta Express upgrade brings relief to sleeper passengers
Hyderabad: South Central Railway announced a passenger-friendly measure after it upgraded coaches on the Delta Express. The move allows sleeper class passengers to travel in third AC coaches without paying extra charges.
The railway converted the Delta Express on the Kachiguda–Repalle route from conventional ICF coaches to modern LHB coaches. Officials said the upgrade focused on improving safety and comfort. The reduced number of sleeper coaches in LHB rakes, however, created accommodation issues for some passengers. Many of them had booked tickets well in advance.
Officials said the coach reconfiguration affected passengers with confirmed reservations in two sleeper coaches. To prevent inconvenience, railway authorities upgraded these passengers to third AC coaches at no additional cost.
Delta Express upgrade benefits early ticket holders
Railway officials said the upgrade mainly benefited passengers who booked tickets weeks earlier. Train reservations open up to 60 days in advance. Many travellers had secured confirmed sleeper tickets before the coach conversion.
Under the decision, passengers travelled in air-conditioned coaches while paying only the sleeper class fare. Several travellers welcomed the move. They praised the railway authorities for their quick response and focus on passenger comfort.
Officials said the railway would consider similar measures in the future when operational changes affect reserved passengers.
