Purana Pul incident exposes Congress failures: BRS
Hyderabad: Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Thursday condemned the incident reported from Purana Pul and expressed serious concern over the rising communal disturbances in Telangana.
Referring to the Purana Pul episode, he said it once again exposed the Congress government’s failure to maintain law and order and safeguard communal harmony. According to him, the state has witnessed frequent communal incidents since the Congress assumed power in December 2023.

Sohail stated that such incidents were creating fear among citizens and damaging Telangana’s image as a peaceful and progressive state. He questioned the Congress government’s claims of effective governance, saying repeated communal tensions reflected weak administration and poor oversight.
Highlighting the previous BRS rule, he said Telangana largely remained peaceful due to firm policing and proactive preventive measures. Sensitive areas, he added, were closely monitored to prevent unrest. In contrast, he alleged that the present government’s failure to act decisively against troublemakers had emboldened anti-social elements.
The BRS leader demanded that the Congress government take full responsibility for the deteriorating law-and-order situation. He urged immediate strengthening of preventive policing in sensitive localities. Authorities, he said, must act impartially and take strict action against those responsible instead of reacting only after incidents occur.
Appealing to the people of Hyderabad and Telangana, Sohail called for calm and unity. He stressed that protecting social harmony was essential for the state’s peace and progress.
