KTR condemns journalists arrests Telangana, seeks immediate release

Journalists arrests Telangana evoke Emergency: KTR

Hyderabad: Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, K T Rama Rao, strongly condemned the midnight arrests of journalists in Telangana. He demanded their immediate release. He accused the Congress government of reviving Emergency-era practices.

In a series of posts on X, KTR said Congress rule in Telangana reminded people of a dark phase in India’s history. He said authorities had curbed press freedom during that period. He also questioned whether Rahul Gandhi knew about the actions of his party’s government in Telangana.

KTR criticised the Telangana Police for arresting journalists like criminals. He said the police registered only bailable cases. Despite this, officers chose arrest over summons. He called the move a clear misuse of power.

Journalists’ arrests reflect abuse of police authority: KTR

The BRS leader questioned why police conducted arrests late at night. He also alleged that officers intimidated the families of journalists. He urged the Director General of Police to stay away from what he called Congress politics.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi directly, KTR said he expected a response from the Congress high command. He alleged that the Telangana unit of what Gandhi calls the “shop of love” violated constitutional rights.

KTR described the police action as abduction. He said officers failed to issue notices under Section 35 of the BNSS. Instead, he alleged, police broke into the house of a journalist. He added that officers committed excesses even in bailable cases. He once again demanded the immediate release of all arrested journalists.
