Mega special sanitation drive intensified across Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) intensified its mega sanitation drive across the city. As part of the special cleanliness campaign, it transported 6,438 metric tonnes of additional waste.
Officials said GHMC carried out the drive in all 300 wards within its limits. The teams covered 3,992 identified locations. These included foot overbridges, flyovers, garbage-vulnerable points, parks, and other public spaces.
During the drive, GHMC removed 4,826 metric tonnes of regular waste. It also cleared 1,612 metric tonnes of construction debris. Together, the effort raised the total additional waste transported to 6,438 metric tonnes. Officials said the drive aims to clear long-pending waste and improve urban cleanliness.
Mega sanitation drive monitored by field officials
Zonal commissioners and deputy commissioners monitored the drive on the ground. They supervised sanitation teams and reviewed work at vulnerable locations.
GHMC officials said the special drive will continue until teams clear all targeted areas. They added that close coordination and regular monitoring are helping speed up operations and improve sanitation standards across Hyderabad.
