Adulterated ghee unit busted in Banjara Hills

Hyderabad: Police busted an adulterated ghee unit operating from a dairy facility in Banjara Hills and arrested its owner for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake dairy products using low-quality substances.

Sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone, conducted the operation along with Masabtank police. During the raid, officers arrested Mohammed Junaid Hussain (26), the owner of “Pride Dairy” at Bhola Nagar, Banjara Hills Road No.12.

Police said the accused manufactured ghee using cow and buffalo cream mixed with palm oil, vanaspati and other inferior substances. He allegedly sold the adulterated product as pure ghee to customers. These customers included hotels and event organisers.

During the raid, officers seized large quantities of adulterated dairy products. They also recovered equipment used in the manufacturing process. Officials estimated the total value of the seized property at Rs 18,26,679.

Large quantity seized from adulterated ghee unit

Police said the raid led to the seizure of 460 kilograms of adulterated ghee. Officers also recovered 70 kilograms of adulterated mixed ghee from the unit. In addition, the team found 2,090 kilograms of adulterated cow cream and 1,170 kilograms of adulterated buffalo cream.

Investigators also recovered 28 tins of vanaspati (Ruchi Gold Dalda) and used oil packets. They found several empty tins that the accused allegedly used during adulteration.

The team confiscated several machines from the dairy facility. These included two boilers, a pushing machine, a packing machine and two weighing machines.

In addition, police seized four gas cylinders and 70 basins of different sizes. Some basins contained ghee. Officers also found 25 empty drums and packing materials inside the unit.

Officials said the accused held a valid licence for dairy operations. However, he allegedly misused the facility to manufacture adulterated products. By selling fake ghee as genuine dairy products, he exposed consumers to serious health risks.

Masabtank police registered a case under Crime No.50/2026. Investigators invoked Sections 318(4), 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have started further investigation.

Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao of the Commissioner’s Task Force supervised the raid. Inspector R. Venkatesh of the Golconda Zone Task Force and Inspector A. Praveen Kumar of Masabtank police coordinated the operation.
