Ranga Reddy Collector reviews special voter list revision

Special voter list revision reviewed in Ranga Reddy

Hyderabad: Ranga Reddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy reviewed the special voter list revision process with representatives of recognised political parties and stressed the need for a transparent and error-free electoral roll.

The Collector held a review meeting at the Collectorate on Wednesday and said the district administration would conduct the revision exercise strictly as per Election Commission of India guidelines. He urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents immediately and coordinate closely with officials during the revision process.

Narayana Reddy said Booth Level Officers would undergo full-scale training from June 15 and conduct door-to-door verification across the district. He added that every eligible citizen should receive voting rights to strengthen democracy.

The Collector said BLOs would verify every household before processing new voter registrations. Officials would also remove names of deceased voters and identify people who had migrated from their registered addresses.

Political parties raise concerns during special voter list revision

Representatives of political parties requested new polling stations in high-rise buildings and multi-storey apartments, especially ahead of the GHMC elections. They also sought the removal of duplicate and deceased voters from the electoral rolls.

Party leaders asked election officials to fill vacant BLO posts immediately and investigate cases where more than 50 voters were registered under a single house number. They also requested proper training for BLOs, BLO supervisors and Booth Level Agents before the Special Intensive Revision process begins.

The Collector assured representatives that officials would examine all suggestions as per ECI guidelines. He said authorities would take action to clean up electoral rolls and improve transparency during data entry and verification procedures.

Officials also informed political parties that constituency-wise details of polling stations under GHMC limits and BLO deployment details would be shared after collection from Electoral Registration Officers.
