Unauthorised sirens drive fines 158 motorists

Hyderabad: The unauthorised sirens drive by Malkajgiri Traffic Police booked 158 cases and imposed fines totalling Rs 1.73 lakh against violators using illegal devices.

The enforcement was carried out on April 29 across Trimulgherry and Malkajgiri divisions under the supervision of K Rahul Reddy. Traffic personnel removed unauthorised sirens and multi-toned horns from vehicles on the spot during the operation.

Officials said 116 cases related to illegal sirens and 42 cases involved multi-toned horns. They added that such devices create confusion among road users, disrupt traffic flow and are often misused to claim priority on roads.

Unauthorised sirens drive targets illegal road practices

Police said the unauthorised sirens drive aimed to enforce traffic discipline and improve public safety. They warned motorists against using prohibited devices under any circumstances.

Authorities said violations would attract strict legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act and relevant rules. Moreover, they directed vehicle owners to remove illegal fittings immediately to avoid penalties.

Traffic police said similar drives would continue regularly to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and maintain orderly road usage across the city.
