Banjara Hills adulterated ghee unit busted, owner held
Hyderabad: Police busted an adulterated ghee unit operating from a dairy facility in Banjara Hills and arrested its owner for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake dairy products using low-quality substances.
The operation was carried out by sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone, along with Masabtank police. During the raid, officers apprehended Mohammed Junaid Hussain (26), the owner of “Pride Dairy” located at Bhola Nagar, Banjara Hills Road No.12.
Police said the accused was illegally manufacturing ghee using cow and buffalo cream mixed with palm oil, vanaspati and other inferior substances. The adulterated products were allegedly sold as pure ghee to customers, including hotels and event organisers.
During the raid, officers seized a large quantity of adulterated dairy products and equipment used in the manufacturing process. The total value of the seized property was estimated at Rs 18,26,679.

Police said the raid on the adulterated ghee unit resulted in the seizure of 460 kilograms of adulterated ghee and 70 kilograms of adulterated mixed ghee. Officers also recovered 2,090 kilograms of adulterated cow cream and 1,170 kilograms of adulterated buffalo cream from the premises.
Authorities further seized 28 tins of vanaspathi (Ruchi Gold Dalda), used oil packets and empty tins that were allegedly used in the adulteration process. The team also confiscated machinery including two boilers, a pushing machine, a packing machine and two weighing machines.
In addition, police seized four gas cylinders, 70 basins of various sizes, some containing ghee, 25 empty drums and packing materials from the dairy unit.
Officials said the accused held a valid license for dairy operations but allegedly misused the facility to manufacture adulterated products. The fake ghee was sold as genuine dairy products, posing a serious health risk to consumers.
Masabtank police registered a case under Crime No.50/2026 under Sections 318(4), 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao of the Commissioner’s Task Force. The operation was closely monitored by R. Venkatesh, Inspector of Golconda Zone Task Force, and A. Praveen Kumar, Inspector of Masabtank police station.
