Arrive Alive road safety campaign held at SR Nagar, says Addl DCP Venugopal Reddy
Hyderabad: As part of the Arrive Alive road safety campaign and National Road Safety Month–2026, Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a large-scale awareness programme on Thursday. The drive covered accident-prone locations in the SR Nagar area.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic–I) C Venugopal Reddy led the programme. The TTI Begumpet and SR Nagar Traffic Police teams joined him. Police organised the drive at key black spots, including Maitrivanam in Ameerpet and the Sri Umesh Chandra statue junction in SR Nagar.
Addressing the public, Venugopal Reddy said road safety requires collective responsibility. He stressed that disciplined behaviour by citizens can prevent accidents. He urged motorists to wear seat belts, avoid mobile phone use while driving, and completely avoid drunken driving.
Moreover, officers explained the dangers of wrong-route driving, red-signal jumping, overspeeding, and triple riding. They also warned against auto piloting and allowing minors to drive vehicles. Police clearly explained the legal penalties for these violations.

Meanwhile, Traffic ACP Hari Prasad also participated in the programme. He said most accidents can be avoided by following traffic rules and practising defensive driving. He also explained safe road-crossing methods to pedestrians. Additionally, he urged citizens to stay alert at busy junctions.
A large number of youths, local residents, auto drivers, commuters, two-wheeler riders, and pedestrians took part in the programme. Police distributed safety messages and interacted directly with road users to reinforce safe driving habits.
Inspector Nagula Ashok, TTI Begumpet, and Srinivas Reddy attended the programme. Sub-Inspectors Naveen Reddy, Bheemrao, and Nagaraju were also present, along with traffic staff. Officials said police will continue similar awareness programmes across the city to reduce accidents and save lives.
