Hyderabad: Four ICFAI University students were killed and another was critically injured in a Rangareddy road accident near Mokila late on Monday after a speeding sports car lost control and rammed into a tree, police said.

According to preliminary information, the car was travelling at high speed when it first hit the road divider near Mirzaguda on the Chevella stretch. The vehicle then veered off the road and crashed into a roadside tree with severe impact.

Police said four occupants died on the spot due to grievous injuries, while a fifth student sustained serious injuries. Emergency teams shifted the injured student to a nearby hospital, where doctors described the condition as critical.

Police identify victims in Rangareddy road accident

The deceased were identified as Surya Teja, Nikhil, Sumith and Rohith. All five occupants were students of ICFAI University, police confirmed after verification of documents and preliminary inquiries.

Local police registered a case and launched an investigation to establish the exact cause of the Rangareddy road accident. Officials said they were examining factors such as overspeeding and loss of control. Further details were awaited.
