Abdullah Sohail appeals to Jubilee Hills voters for a just mandate

Abdullah Sohail

Hyderabad: BRS senior leader Abdullah Sohail urged Jubilee Hills voters to reject cash-for-vote practices and cast ballots based on justice and dignity. He made the appeal on Sunday, the last day of campaigning for the November 11 by-election.

Sohail calls the bypoll a test of conscience

Abdullah Sohail said cash handouts ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 could not compensate for community suffering or restore trust. “Is our honour worth only Rs 2,500?” he asked, urging citizens not to sell their votes for short-term gains.

Referring to alleged demolitions under the “HYDRAA” scheme and restrictions on religious gatherings, Sohail said such actions eroded public confidence. He emphasised that accepting inducements encouraged unaccountable governance and perpetuated inequality.

Sohail contrasted former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s inclusive leadership with what he described as a rising autocratic tendency among rivals. He urged voters to think about their role in shaping Telangana’s moral and political future.

He concluded that the Jubilee Hills bypoll represented a “moral correction point” and reminded citizens to vote responsibly on November 11 to protect democratic values.
