Political vendetta against Harish Rao in phone-tapping case condemned by Dasoju Sravan
Hyderabad: BRS leader Dasoju Sravan on Tuesday condemned what he called a political vendetta against former minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao in the phone-tapping case. He alleged that the present government misused state institutions for political ends.
In a statement, Sravan said the situation in Telangana no longer reflected people’s governance. Instead, he described it as a distorted political game. Quoting Chinese strategist Sun Tzu, he said the lust for power drives some leaders to damage the state just to rule its remnants.
Further, Sravan alleged that authorities subjected Harish Rao to inhumane and undemocratic treatment. He said officials questioned Rao for over 7.5 hours in what he termed a baseless and inconsistent case. According to him, the investigation process raised serious concerns about democratic norms.
Moreover, Sravan claimed the alleged harassment followed Harish Rao’s questions on corruption in Singareni Collieries. He accused the government of targeting leaders who raise uncomfortable issues.

Meanwhile, the BRS leader accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of misusing law enforcement agencies for personal and political revenge. He said the government reduced state institutions to instruments of political retaliation. He added that police should not function according to a script set by the ruling party.
Additionally, Sravan termed the branding of democratic dissent as a crime atrocious. He warned that the same “police weapons” used against opponents would eventually harm the government itself. He said silencing critics through legal pressure weakens democracy.
Finally, Sravan asserted that such actions would not weaken the opposition. He said the BRS cadre stood firmly with Harish Rao. He added that oppression only strengthens resistance and that truth would ultimately prevail.
