Hyderabad family tragedy leaves disabled girl dead, three critical
Hyderabad: A Hyderabad family tragedy unfolded in Jagadgirigutta, where a couple allegedly killed their physically disabled daughter and then attempted suicide along with their son, police said.
The incident occurred in Alwin Colony under Jagadgirigutta limits. The family was identified as Satish Kumar, his wife, and their two children. Police said the couple murdered their daughter Sri Javalli, who was disabled since birth, and later slit their wrists in a suicide attempt along with their son Nithin.
Investigators said the family had been under severe mental stress due to the child’s disability and ongoing financial difficulties. After killing the girl, the parents and son inflicted injuries on themselves. However, they survived for more than 40 hours after the attempt.
When their condition worsened, Nithin reportedly contacted his friend Bhaskar and informed him about the incident. Following this, neighbours alerted the police, who rushed to the house and found the three family members lying in a pool of blood.
Police shifted all three to a hospital with emergency assistance. Doctors said their condition was critical.
Hyderabad family tragedy triggers police probe
Police sent the body of Sri Javalli to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. Officials said the autopsy would help establish the exact cause and timing of death.
A case was registered, and a detailed investigation was taken up to ascertain the sequence of events. Police said they were also examining the family’s financial and social circumstances as part of the probe.
Doctors treating the three survivors said continuous monitoring was required, given the severity of their injuries. Authorities said further action would follow based on medical and forensic reports.
