Fake Number Plate Case Detected by Hyderabad Traffic Police

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Traffic Police have detected a case involving the use of a fake vehicle registration number plate, leading to the registration of a criminal case and action by Sangareddy Town Police.

Based on information developed by Hyderabad Traffic Police, Sangareddy Town Police registered FIR No. 224/2026 and identified the accused as Arun Goud, 26, a resident of Doulthabad village in Hanora Mandal of Sangareddy district.

Fake Number Plate Used to Avoid Traffic Penalties

According to police, the accused allegedly used registration number TS12EV2299 on his Suzuki Burgman two-wheeler with the intention of misleading government authorities and enforcement agencies and avoiding traffic violation challans.

Police stated that the use of the registration number resulted in traffic challans being generated against the legitimate owner of vehicle number TS12EV2299, identified as Asif Khan of Moulana Azad Colony, Edibazar, Hyderabad.

A criminal case was registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 192 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police issued a notice to the accused under Section 35(3) of the BNSS, corresponding to Section 41 Cr.P.C.

Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the actual registration number of the vehicle allegedly used by the accused. The case was detected through coordinated efforts of Hyderabad Traffic Police and Sangareddy Town Police.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police stated that the use of fake, identical or tampered number plates is a punishable offence under law and warned that such violations will be dealt with strictly. Officials also highlighted the use of CCTV surveillance and ANPR camera systems to identify vehicles using fake registration plates.
