Bandaru Dattatreya pays tribute to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee

Hyderabad: Former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya paid rich tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, on the occasion of his Balidan Diwas in Hyderabad on Monday. He offered floral tributes to the portrait of the nationalist leader at Ramnagar and recalled his contribution to national unity and democratic values.

Speaking at the programme, Dattatreya said Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee devoted his entire life to protecting the unity and integrity of the country. He stated that the sacrifices made by the Jana Sangh founder for national integration would continue to inspire future generations.

Dattatreya said Mookerjee secured a permanent place in Indian history through his campaign for national integration. He recalled the leader’s stand that one nation could not function with separate Constitutions, flags and Prime Ministers.

The former Governor said the life of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee remained a source of inspiration because of his patriotism, selfless service and commitment to national consciousness. He added that the ideals upheld by Mookerjee continued to guide the nation.

Dattatreya further said the Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fulfilled Mookerjee’s long-standing vision through the abrogation of Article 370. He also stated that India had demonstrated its firm commitment to national security by taking a strong stand against terrorism and its supporters.

Several BJP leaders and party workers attended the programme. They joined Dattatreya in paying tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his martyrdom day.
