Malkajgiri murder case solved within hours

Hyderabad: Police detected the Malkajgiri murder case within hours and arrested the prime accused, Dhamara Arun Kumar, in connection with the killing of his wife, Dhamara Nisharani. Officers apprehended him near Moula-Ali Railway Station on June 11 and seized a country-made pistol, live ammunition, knives and other material linked to the crime.

The case was registered as Crime No.479/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25(1)(A) and 27 of the Arms Act at Malkajgiri Police Station. Police also named Harinder Singh alias Harbhajan Singh, who remains absconding, and Mir Muzammil Ali Khan, a student, in the case.

According to investigators, Nisharani, 35, was living with Arun Kumar at Maruthi Nagar in Malkajgiri. Police said the accused frequently suspected her fidelity and allegedly subjected her to physical and mental harassment. Due to the disputes, she had earlier stayed with relatives in Narsapur in Medak district.

In a separate victim-related development, investigators said marital tensions had intensified in recent days. Police alleged that Arun Kumar shot Nisharani at about 4.30 am on June 10 at their residence, causing her death. The complaint was lodged by Gaddam Santhosh Yadav, following which police launched an investigation.

Weapons seized in Malkajgiri murder case investigation

During the operation, police recovered a country-made pistol with an empty magazine, another magazine loaded with three live rounds, three knives, a surgical blade, a Maruti Baleno car, a Bajaj Chetak scooter and other evidence. Investigators said the accused had previously been involved in a firearm possession case registered at Amberpet Police Station and had been remanded to judicial custody before his release.

Police said technical evidence and other clues helped them trace and apprehend the accused quickly. Further investigation is continuing. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi and senior officers of the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate. The Commissioner appreciated the team for the swift detection of the case.

Police also urged the public to report domestic violence, threats to life and illegal possession of firearms. Authorities warned that weapon-related offences and repeated harassment would invite strict legal action.
