Hyderabad police honour youth for rescuing girl
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar honoured a युवक, Mohammed Firoz, for his timely intervention in a Hyderabad girl rescue case involving an eight-year-old.
The commissioner felicitated Firoz at the old CP office in Basheer Bagh on Monday. He presented a shawl and a cash reward in the presence of senior officers. Sajjanar praised Firoz for acting responsibly and preventing a serious crime.
The incident took place on April 1 after the girl left school in the Abids area. An auto driver, identified as Saleem from Mehdipatnam Hills Colony, allegedly lured her into his vehicle with false assurances.
He then took the child to an isolated location in Golconda and behaved inappropriately. At that moment, Firoz, who was coming out of a mosque, noticed the girl crying inside the auto. He grew suspicious and stopped the vehicle.
When he questioned the child, she told him the driver was misbehaving. As Firoz confronted the आरोपी, the driver abandoned the girl and fled the spot.
Firoz immediately used the phone number on the child’s ID card to inform her father. Meanwhile, the parents were already searching for her near the school in distress.
Hyderabad girl rescue led to swift police action
Soon after, Abids police Blue Colts constables Saikrishna and Kedar Singh, who were heading home after duty, noticed the situation. They coordinated with Firoz and rushed to Golconda.
The officers safely brought the girl back and handed her over to her parents. Police arrested the accused Saleem on April 2, seized the auto, and sent him to remand.
Sajjanar said citizens must not remain silent during crimes. He added that Firoz set an example by acting with courage and presence of mind in the Hyderabad girl rescue case.
He also appreciated the constables for their quick response and effective action in ensuring the child’s safety. Senior officials, including Additional CP Tafseer Iqbal, Joint CP N Shwetha, and other DCPs, attended the event.
