Police registered Crime No. 88/2026 after receiving a complaint from the victim’s mother. Investigators invoked Sections 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the probe, officers examined CCTV footage and identified the suspects.
According to police, Laddu Singh introduced Rushab Agarwal to Munna Singh five days before the murder. During their conversation, the victim said he had recently come out of Charlapally jail. He also said he had stayed in the same barrack as a rival gang member. After hearing this, Munna Singh suspected him of sharing information with rivals.
The next day, Munna Singh allegedly called the victim through Laddu Singh. He then confined Rushab Agarwal in a shed near his residence. Munna Singh, Aminesh Singh alias Amresh, Kunal Singh and Mamu reportedly assaulted him to extract information.
Later, the accused shifted the victim in an auto to a Ganesh idol-making unit at Aramghar. Other accused joined them at the location. Together, they allegedly beat him with hands, legs and blunt objects.
Rushab Agarwal died at the spot due to severe internal injuries. After the incident, the accused moved the body to another nearby location and fled.
On February 27, 2026, at about 2 pm, police traced and arrested the five accused based on credible information. During questioning, they reportedly confessed to their involvement along with three absconding suspects — Aminesh Singh alias Amresh, Kunal Singh and Mamu.
Police recovered three mobile phones and two Activa bikes from the accused during the investigation. Officials said Munna Singh was earlier involved in Crime No. 234/2005 of Mangalhat police station. That case involved Section 308(3) BNS and Sections 3, 10 and 13 of the TS Money Lenders Act-1349F.
Police later produced the accused before the court. Meanwhile, police teams continue efforts to trace the remaining suspects.
