Mangalhat murder case: Five arrested for killing Rushab Agarwal
Hyderabad: Police arrested five members of a gang in the Mangalhat murder case involving the killing of Rushab Agarwal and seized three mobile phones and two two-wheelers from them.
Mangalhat police said the prime accused, Munna Singh, along with four others, kidnapped and assaulted the victim after suspecting him of links with a rival group. The accused allegedly tortured Rushab Agarwal at multiple locations before he died of internal injuries.
The arrested accused were identified as A-1 Munna Singh, 31, a real estate and finance businessman from Jumerath Bazar, Lower Dhoolpet, Mangalhat; A-2 Laddu Singh, 30, a private employee from Takkerwadi, Mangalhat; A-6 Maddur Pranaya Kumar, 30, an insurance agent at Apollo Agency, Nanakramguda; A-7 Thippani Uday Kiran, 20, a car instructor from Janaki Nagar, Tolichowki; and A-8 Kushangal Om Prakash, 20, a labour worker residing at Aditya Nagar, Tolichowki.
CCTV footage cracks Mangalhat murder case
Police registered Crime No. 88/2026 under Sections 103(1) read with 3(5) of the BNS based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother. During the investigation, officers analysed CCTV footage and identified the accused.
According to police, five days before the murder, Laddu Singh introduced Rushab Agarwal to Munna Singh. During a conversation, the victim said he had recently been released from Charlapally jail and had stayed in the same barrack as a rival gang member. Munna Singh then suspected him of sharing information with rivals.
The next day, Munna Singh allegedly called the victim through Laddu Singh and confined him in a shed near his residence. Munna Singh, Aminesh Singh alias Amresh, Kunal Singh and Mamu reportedly beat him to extract information. Later, they shifted him in an auto to a Ganesh idol-making unit at Aramghar, where other accused joined and assaulted him with hands, legs and blunt objects.
Rushab Agarwal died on the spot due to internal injuries. The accused then moved the body to another nearby location and fled.
On February 27, 2026, at about 2 pm, police apprehended the five accused based on credible information. During questioning, they allegedly confessed to their role along with three absconding accused — Aminesh Singh alias Amresh, Kunal Singh and Mamu.
Police seized three cell phones and two Activa bikes at the instance of the accused. Munna Singh was previously involved in Crime No. 234/2005 of Mangalhat police station under Section 308(3) BNS and Sections 3, 10 and 13 of the TS Money Lenders Act-1349F.
The accused were produced before the court. Police teams are continuing efforts to trace the remaining suspects.
The arrests were made under the supervision of DCP Golconda Zone G. Chandra Mohan and other senior officers. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Golconda Zone, B. Krishna Goud, confirmed the details.
