SHE Teams counselling and arrests in Malkajgiri
Hyderabad: SHE Teams Malkajgiri apprehended 81 offenders and registered cases against several accused as part of intensified action to ensure women’s safety, Deputy Commissioner of Police T. Usha Rani said.
The DCP, Women Safety, Malkajgiri Commissionerate, stated that police would not spare anyone who harasses girls and women. She urged victims to come forward and lodge complaints without fear. She said SHE Teams were conducting decoy operations in plain clothes at bus stands, railway stations, metro stations, schools, colleges and markets.
Between 16.01.2026 and 31.01.2026, SHE Teams Malkajgiri apprehended 81 offenders, including 56 majors and 25 minors, for harassing women and girls. Officers provided counselling to them at the CP Camp Office in LB Nagar in the presence of family members and professional counsellors. During the recent period, police also received 99 complaints.
Police said 28 complaints involved harassment through phone calls, while 26 related to social media abuse. In addition, 45 cases involved direct or physical harassment. Authorities registered eight criminal cases and booked 25 petty cases. They counselled 55 persons as part of corrective measures.
SHE Teams Malkajgiri register cases in harassment incidents
In one case, police arrested a private bus driver who allegedly misused a woman’s personal details obtained during ticket booking. He reportedly sent vulgar messages and made harassing calls. Police registered a case and remanded him to judicial custody.
In another incident, a man allegedly harassed and blackmailed a young woman after she rejected his proposal. He threatened to circulate her personal photographs. SHE Teams registered a case and arrested the accused.
Police also booked a man for stalking and harassing a widow in her neighbourhood. Despite earlier counselling, he continued to send messages and follow her to her workplace. Officers registered a case at the concerned police station.
In a separate case, a Rapido auto driver allegedly harassed a young working woman over an excess fare demand. When she refused to pay extra, he behaved aggressively and refused to stop the vehicle immediately. After she approached SHE Teams through WhatsApp, police took him into custody and registered a case.
During the last month, SHE Teams conducted 48 awareness programmes and educated about 5,795 people on women-related laws and safety measures. In metro rail decoy operations, officials fined four men for travelling in women-only compartments.
