Santoshnagar cordon search yields vehicles, liquor, suspects

Hyderabad: Police conducted a large-scale cordon and search operation within the limits of Santoshnagar Police Station on February 9, 2026, as part of a community contact programme aimed at curbing criminal activity and strengthening public safety.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Kiran Khare Prabhakar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charminar Zone, and T. Sukhdev Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Santoshnagar Division. It was led by K. Satyanarayana.

Police teams covered Mohammed Nagar, Javeed Nagar, and Kalika Nagar areas. More than 153 police personnel participated, including 2 ACPs, 8 Inspectors, 14 Sub-Inspectors, and 129 police personnel. Authorities deployed 8 search parties, 5 cut-off parties, 5 lifting parties, and one holding point during the operation.

Nearly 500 houses were searched as part of the Santoshnagar cordon search. Police seized 47 two-wheelers without number plates or with improper number plates, one auto-rickshaw, and 56 bottles of illegal liquor. Officers also traced 11 rowdy sheeters and 7 suspect sheet persons during the drive.

Police also seized illegal gas cylinders from the area, including 11 big cylinders, of which 2 were full, and 5 small cylinders, with 4 found full. Officials said such seizures were crucial to preventing accidents and unlawful activities.

Senior officers said the Santoshnagar cordon search operation was conducted smoothly and without incident. They added that similar exercises would continue to deter crime, enhance public confidence, and improve coordination between police and residents.
