ACB traps GHMC Kukatpally zone engineer, operator for ₹15 lakh bribe
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a superintending engineer and a computer operator of the GHMC Kukatpally Zone after catching them red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15 lakh for processing official bills, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the ACB, the prime accused, Sri Podduturi Chinna Reddy, Superintending Engineer in the office of the Zonal Commissioner, Kukatpally Zone, GHMC, demanded and accepted the bribe through AO-2 Sri Balsangamren Kumar, a computer operator (outsourcing). The bribe was allegedly sought for verifying works executed by the complainant and for processing and forwarding bills worth ₹1.40 crore to the Zonal Commissioner for approval.
The trap was laid by the ACB Rangareddy Range on February 4. Officials said the tainted bribe amount of ₹15 lakh was recovered from the possession of the computer operator at the instance of the superintending engineer. The bureau stated that both officials performed their duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
Following the operation, both the superintending engineer and the computer operator were arrested and produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The case was under investigation, and the identity of the complainant was withheld for security reasons.

The ACB reiterated that demanding or accepting bribes by public servants was a serious offence and warned officials against misuse of authority. Officials said the Kukatpally GHMC bribe case underlined the importance of citizens coming forward to report corruption.
The bureau urged the public to report any demand for bribes by government servants by dialling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp at 9440446106 or via Telangana ACB social media platforms. Officials assured that the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
