Eagle Team raids on pubs during New Year in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Eagle Team raids were carried out across Hyderabad on New Year night as enforcement agencies conducted surprise inspections at pubs, leading to three persons, including two DJs, testing positive for drugs.

According to police, the Eagle Team conducted raids past midnight on December 31 as part of strict monitoring of New Year celebrations. Teams inspected 60 pubs across the city to curb drug use and ensure compliance with safety norms.

During the checks, drug tests were conducted on several individuals. Three persons were found drug-positive, prompting police to take them into custody. Cases were registered against them at Jubilee Hills Police Station and Narsingi Police Station.

Officials said the action followed advance warnings issued by the Eagle Team, cautioning citizens and pub operators against drug use during New Year celebrations. Authorities had made it clear that anyone found consuming drugs would face strict legal action.

Police said the raids were conducted as promised, with a focus on preventing drug consumption at party venues. Officers questioned those who tested positive to trace the source of the drugs and identify their supply links.

Investigators are now examining how the accused procured the narcotics and whether any organised networks were involved. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry, police said.

Officials reiterated that similar enforcement drives would continue to deter drug use at public gatherings and nightlife venues in Hyderabad.
