Harish Rao says he fears no arrest in phone tapping case

Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said he has no fear of arrest in the ongoing phone tapping case and accused the government of using the SIT for political retaliation. His statement followed media reports that he and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao may soon be served notices in the case.

Rao alleged that some officers were registering false and illegal cases to secure favourable postings. He said that SITs in the state had become a joke and claimed that the government was on the defensive. “I heard they plan to issue notices on the evening of January 3, after the Assembly session ends,” he remarked.

The former minister warned that if harassment continued under political motives, the consequences would mirror those seen in Andhra Pradesh. “We have a history of sacrifice and we will work with double the energy, even if arrested,” he stated.

Rao also claimed that names of overreaching officers were being recorded. “Every illegal action, corruption deal, and settlement is being noted,” he said. He issued a strong warning that no officer would be spared—whether retired, abroad, or in central service. “They will all be brought back and held accountable in Telangana,” he added.
