Property tax arrears cleared under one-time scheme
Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Monday announced a one-time scheme to clear property tax arrears. The scheme offers major relief by waiving 90% of the interest on pending dues.
Under G.O. Rt No. 869, taxpayers must pay only the principal amount and 10% of the accrued interest. The government introduced the scheme to speed up recovery of long-pending dues and strengthen municipal revenues.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation clarified that the scheme applies only to properties within Hyderabad city limits. Officials said the concession targets GHMC taxpayers with long-standing arrears.
Property tax arrears relief extended for 2025–26
GHMC officials said the interest waiver will cover both private and government establishments during the 2025–26 financial year. They urged eligible taxpayers to use the scheme within the notified period to avoid enforcement action.
The civic body said it will issue detailed guidelines on timelines and payment modes separately to ensure smooth implementation across the city.
