Man kills brother for insurance money in Karimnagar, three arrested
Hyderabad: Karimnagar police have arrested three men involved in a planned murder case in which a man killed his mentally unstable brother to claim insurance money of over ₹4 crore.
Commissioner of Police Gous Alam said the main accused, Naresh, a 30-year-old businessman from Ramadugu, had debts of more than ₹1.5 crore. To clear those loans, he purchased insurance policies worth ₹4.14 crore in the name of his elder brother, Venkatesh, across four different companies. He also took a gold loan of ₹20 lakh using the same identity.
Venkatesh, 37, unmarried and mentally unstable, became the target of Naresh’s plan. Naresh believed that his brother’s death would help him secure the insurance amount and also get the gold loan waived.
Murder staged as accident to claim insurance
Naresh roped in two associates – his friend Rakesh and a tipper truck driver, Pradeep—to carry out the murder. On the night of November 29, while Venkatesh opened a gate, the trio ran him over with a tipper truck to make the death look like an accident.
Police initially recorded the case as a road accident. However, insurance companies flagged serious doubts during claim verification. After receiving these alerts, investigators re-examined the incident and found clear evidence of premeditated murder. Police then arrested Naresh, Rakesh, and Pradeep and booked them under relevant sections of law.
