HYDRAA floats tender for Hyderabad lakes CCTV monitoring at 185 sites

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has issued a tender for installing solar-powered 4G IP CCTV cameras across 185 lakes. This initiative is part of the Hyderabad lakes CCTV monitoring programme designed to prevent land encroachment and flooding.
Officials confirmed that the last date for tender submissions is September 1, and bids will be opened the same day. The scheme builds on earlier steps under which HYDRAA enforced round-the-clock surveillance along the Outer Ring Road.
Hyderabad lakes CCTV monitoring to expand HYDRAA’s watch network
HYDRAA surveyed 549 lakes under the ORR. Of these, 411 have preliminary notifications and 138 final notifications. The remaining lakes are expected to be covered soon.
At present, 70 lakes are being guarded continuously, with seven trained guards at each lake. The guards were recruited through outsourcing from candidates who failed the police constable exam but were given training before deployment.
HYDRAA said its lake protection initiative is central to reducing monsoon flood risks. Recent restoration at Batkamma Kunta and Nallagandla Lake included boating trials, while beautification work is underway at Sanam Lake, Thammidi Kunta, Uppal Nalla Lake, and Bum Rukn-ud-Doula Lake.
