TPCC alleges BJP-BRS conspiracy against Azharuddin’s cabinet induction
Hyderabad: TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin on Thursday condemned the BJP and BRS, alleging a joint conspiracy to obstruct the induction of former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin into the state cabinet. Nizamuddin’s comments followed a complaint filed by BJP leaders with the Chief Electoral Officer. He called the complaint, which alleges a Model Code of Conduct violation, a deliberate attempt to deny political representation to minorities.
He asserted that Azharuddin, who led the Indian cricket team for several years and brought international recognition to the country, deserved a place in the Telangana cabinet. The TPCC spokesperson accused the BJP of double standards. For instance, he cited a December 2023 precedent in Rajasthan, where the BJP government inducted its own candidate, Surendra Pal Singh, into the cabinet just 20 days before the Sri Karanpur by-poll. “If it was not a violation then, how can the BJP object now?” Nizamuddin asked. He stated the BJP’s objection stemmed from prejudice, not principles. “The BJP is opposing Azharuddin only because he is a minority leader,” he stated.
Nizamuddin alleges political collusion against Azharuddin’s cabinet induction
Nizamuddin alleged the BJP is pressuring the Governor not to administer the oath of office to Azharuddin. He claimed the complaint to the Election Commission is part of this “larger conspiracy.” He further accused the BJP of acting in coordination with the BRS to create hurdles for Azharuddin’s cabinet induction specifically because he belongs to the minority community.
Nizamuddin recalled that BRS MLC K. Kavitha had previously revealed a “covert understanding” between the BRS and BJP, which he said explains their common stand. “The BJP has no chance of winning in Jubilee Hills. Knowing this, it has fielded a weak candidate at the last moment only to benefit the BRS,” he said. He appealed to voters, especially minorities, to see the political collusion between the two parties. Nizamuddin stated both parties are working to weaken the Congress and deny minorities representation. He affirmed the Revanth Reddy government’s commitment to inclusive governance and upholding justice for all sections.
