Telangana ministers invite Governor to Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara
Hyderabad: Telangana ministers D. Anasuya Seethakka and Konda Surekha on Monday extended an official invitation to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to attend the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara.
During a meeting at Lok Bhavan, the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister and the Environment and Forests Minister personally invited the Governor to participate in the biennial tribal festival. The jatara ranks among the largest gatherings of indigenous communities in the country.
During the interaction, the ministers explained the spiritual and cultural importance of the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara. They said the festival attracts millions of devotees from Telangana and neighbouring states. Meanwhile, they also outlined the extensive arrangements underway to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Moreover, officials said the meeting reflected the government’s commitment to preserving tribal traditions. They added that the state continues to promote Telangana’s cultural heritage through the active involvement of constitutional authorities.
Medaram Jatara invitation highlights cultural significance
The Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, held in Mulugu district, stands as a major tribal congregation dedicated to goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma. The state views the event as a symbol of tribal identity and cultural pride.
Sources said the Governor welcomed the invitation and acknowledged the jatara’s role in showcasing Telangana’s rich tribal legacy.
