Osmania University professor suspension challenged before Governor
Hyderabad: Former MLC Shravan Kumar Dasoju submitted a formal complaint to the Governor against the suspension of an Osmania University professor. He raised serious concerns about academic freedom and constitutional propriety. Dasoju described the suspension of Professor B. Manohar as illegal and undemocratic.
In the complaint addressed to Raj Bhavan, Dasoju said authorities issued the suspension order without conducting any inquiry. He termed the action dictatorial. He added that universities exist as intellectual centres that encourage questioning. They should not function as institutions that demand unquestioning obedience.

Further, Dasoju alleged that the university administration is deliberately creating an atmosphere of fear. He said such actions suppress freedom of expression on campus. He also accused the authorities of acting beyond their mandate and behaving like law enforcement agencies.
Finally, Dasoju condemned the suspension as unconstitutional. He urged the Governor to intervene immediately and revoke the order. He warned that silencing questioning voices inside universities endangers democracy. He said when questions die in universities, democracy loses its soul.
