No helmet no petrol rule to begin across Nalgonda district from Wednesday
Hyderabad: The Nalgonda district police will implement the no helmet, no petrol rule across the district from Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar said on Tuesday. The move forms part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month campaign.
Under the decision, petrol pump staff will deny fuel to two-wheeler riders who arrive without helmets. Accordingly, the police have instructed all petrol bunk owners and employees to enforce the rule strictly and without exceptions.
Earlier, police officials briefed petrol pump operators and staff on the enforcement process. Meanwhile, police teams have stepped up counselling and awareness programmes across the district. Through these efforts, the police aim to educate riders on the importance of wearing helmets.
no helmet, no petrol rule
The SP said two-wheeler riders account for a significant share of road accident deaths in the district. Moreover, riders without helmets often suffer severe head injuries. Such injuries, he noted, turn otherwise survivable accidents into fatal cases.
Therefore, the police introduced the no helmet, no petrol rule to reduce accidents and save lives. Alongside enforcement, the police will continue awareness campaigns to improve compliance and strengthen road safety across Nalgonda district.
