Irrigation projects inauguration brings satisfaction, says KTR

Irrigation projects inauguration: KTR welcomes launch

Hyderabad: K T Rama Rao, Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, welcomed the inauguration of the Chanaka Korata and Sadarmat irrigation projects. He said the previous BRS government had completed most of the work.

KTR said the government initiated both projects during the tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He noted that officials had completed over 90 percent of the work before the change in government. He added that the projects aim to improve water availability in north Telangana.

KTR said the BRS government completed 95 percent of the Chanaka Korata Barrage. The barrage has a storage capacity of 0.98 TMC. He said officials successfully conducted a trial run in September 2023.

Irrigation projects to expand irrigation coverage

KTR said the Chanaka Korata project and its lift irrigation system will irrigate nearly 51,000 acres. The project will benefit 89 villages in the Adilabad and Both Assembly constituencies. He said the government took up the project after signing an inter-state agreement with Maharashtra in 2016.

Referring to the Sadarmat Barrage, KTR said it has a storage capacity of 1.58 TMC. He said the BRS government completed around 90 percent of the work during KCR’s tenure. According to him, the project will provide irrigation water to about 18,000 acres in Nirmal and Jagtial districts.

KTR said the state converted large stretches of barren land into fertile fields between 2014 and 2023. He credited KCR’s leadership for strengthening agriculture and boosting Telangana’s contribution to national food production.
