Interstate ganja smuggling racket busted at Secunderabad
Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force busted an interstate ganja smuggling racket at Secunderabad Railway Station and arrested two transporters, seizing 18.288 kg of dry ganja worth Rs. 9,14,400.
Acting on 12.02.2026, GRP Secunderabad and RPF teams conducted surprise checks on platforms and trains to curb drug trafficking. During the operation, they apprehended two men who were transporting ganja from Balugaon in Odisha to Secunderabad.
Police identified the accused as Abhishek Singh alias Golu Singh, 25, a resident of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, and Abhishek Kumar Singh alias Abinash, 23, a hotel worker from Kolkata in West Bengal. Both were relatives.
Investigators said a third accused, Digal of Chilka, Odisha, organised the supply and is currently absconding.
According to police, the accused agreed to transport ganja for Rs. 15,000 per trip. About two months ago, Abhishek Singh travelled to Bhubaneswar in search of work and came into contact with Digal. He was offered money to assist in transporting ganja to different States.
On 10.02.2026, Digal instructed Abhishek Singh to bring another trusted person for the job. He then contacted Abhishek Kumar Singh and explained the plan. Both agreed and boarded the Konark Express from Bhubaneswar to Secunderabad with general tickets.
Interstate ganja smuggling racket operated from Balugaon
On 11.02.2026, at Balugaon Railway Station, Digal handed over two bags containing 18.288 kg of ganja to the duo. He instructed them to deliver the contraband at Secunderabad Railway Station and wait in the General Waiting Hall for a contact person.
The two accused reached Secunderabad at about 11:30 hours on 12.02.2026. After getting down from the train, they moved to the waiting hall as planned. However, at around 12:00 hours, railway police intercepted and apprehended them. Officers seized the ganja and took both into custody.
The operation was carried out by GRP personnel along with RPF staff under the supervision of senior railway police officials. Police are continuing efforts to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
Further investigation is underway.
