Cybercrime police arrest in abusive comment case

Hyderabad: Cybercrime Police in Cyberabad apprehended a man in an abusive comment case for posting offensive content on a social media platform using a fake account.

Officials said the accused, Idadasu Apparao, a resident of Visakhapatnam, was identified during the investigation and taken into custody. Police traced the objectionable comment to a fake Instagram account operated by him.

According to investigators, the accused regularly watched Instagram reels in his free time. Recently, he viewed a reel featuring actress Renu Desai and posted an abusive and offensive comment using the fake profile.

Police apprehended him while he was in Visakhapatnam. They informed him of the grounds for action and brought him to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Gachibowli for further inquiry. During verification, he produced the mobile phone used to post the comment.

Probe in abusive comment case traces fake account activity

During the probe, officers established that the accused had deliberately created the fake account to post objectionable content. The investigation confirmed the link between the device and the account used in the offence.

Cybercrime Police reiterated that posting abusive or defamatory remarks on social media can attract legal action under relevant laws. They stressed that anonymity on digital platforms does not protect offenders from being traced.

Officials advised citizens to maintain responsible online behaviour and avoid sharing or posting offensive content. They also urged the public to report cyber offences to the nearest Cyber Crime Police Station or through the 1930 helpline for timely action.
