Kaleshwaram barrage repairs ordered by Chief Minister
Hyderabad: The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite Kaleshwaram barrage repairs and restore all three barrages to operation at the earliest.
During a review meeting at his Jubilee Hills residence, the Chief Minister instructed that repair works must follow recommendations of the National Dam Safety Authority. He also ordered officials to prepare a detailed action plan and ensure continuous monitoring of the execution.
He said all agencies must remain on alert and improve coordination to speed up the process. Officials were told to complete testing and sample collection under the supervision of the Central Water and Power Research Station before the onset of the monsoon.
The Chief Minister also directed the formation of a joint team comprising the Irrigation Department, CWPRS, construction agencies, and design consultants. Representatives from the Central Water Commission will be involved at every stage of the repair process.

Engineers informed the meeting that not only the damaged pillar at Medigadda but the entire 1.6 km stretch requires detailed examination. Following this, the Chief Minister ordered preparation of a special plan to drill 500 borewells near Medigadda and deploy necessary machinery for rapid execution.
He instructed officials to finalise repair designs and prepare a comprehensive schedule to complete works by December. Emphasising urgency, he said there should be no delays and assured that funds will be made available without constraints.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to set up a base camp at Medigadda. He said he would personally visit the site once the repair works begin.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Irrigation Secretary Sridhar, and other department representatives, attended the meeting.
