Farmer suicide in Siddipet over crop loss and debt burden
Hyderabad: A Farmer suicide Siddipet case was reported in Dubbak mandal, where a farmer died by suicide after suffering crop loss and mounting debt, police said.
The deceased was identified as Reddy Mohan Reddy (40), a resident of Ragothampalli village in Siddipet district. He had cultivated paddy on his farmland this season.
According to police, the crop dried up due to severe water shortage. Despite investing in cultivation, he faced complete crop failure.
Farmer suicide Siddipet linked to borewell failure and debts
Mohan Reddy had reportedly taken loans and drilled two borewells to irrigate his fields. However, both borewells failed to yield water, worsening his financial situation.
As debts mounted and the crop was lost, he became distressed. On Wednesday morning, he died by suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his agricultural field.
Police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Officials said the case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by farmers due to water scarcity and financial stress.
