Two arrested for selling banned Chinese Manja bobbins in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force South Zone arrested two persons for illegally selling banned Chinese Manja bobbins. The team seized 191 glass-coated nylon bobbins worth ₹1.91 lakh within the limits of Rein Bazar Police Station.
Police identified the accused as Hussain Agha (37), a businessman from Yakuthpura, and Syed Saddiq Hussain Jaffery (35), a Zomato delivery executive from Edi Bazar. Meanwhile, another accused, Ramzan, a resident of Mumbai, remains absconding.
On January 14, 2026, Task Force personnel acted on credible information. Accordingly, they caught the duo while selling banned Chinese Manja near the backside of Murtuza Chaman at Yakuthpura.
During the investigation, officers found that Hussain Agha managed his father’s business. He also employed Syed Saddiq Hussain Jaffery. Moreover, Hussain Agha allegedly procured the banned nylon Manja from Ramzan. He then sold each bobbin for ₹1,000 to earn illegal profits.
Banned Chinese Manja seized during Task Force operation
Police seized 191 Mono Gold bobbins of banned glass-coated nylon Chinese Manja from the accused. Officials said the illegal trade poses a serious threat to birds and human life. Therefore, authorities continue to crack down on such activities.
Notably, the Telangana Government imposed a complete ban on the procurement, storage, sale, and use of Chinese Manja in January 2016. The government enforced the ban under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. As a result, violators face up to five years of imprisonment, a fine of up to ₹1 lakh, or both.
Finally, police handed over the arrested accused and seized material to the SHO of Rein Bazar Police Station for further legal action. Inspector K. Adi Reddy supervised the operation. Sub-Inspectors M. Mahesh and S. Seshu, along with Task Force staff, assisted in the operation.
