Kothapet protest

Hyderabad: Brief tension prevailed in the Kothapet area on Tuesday morning after leaders and workers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other saffron organisations staged a protest over alleged attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh.

Addressing the gathering, VHP national representative Shashi Dhar alleged that Hindus in Bangladesh were facing inhuman attacks. He said the Indian government should take strong steps to ensure their safety. He also expressed serious concern over the reported situation faced by the Hindu community in the neighbouring country.

Shashi Dhar further alleged that a large number of Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas were residing in Hyderabad. He warned that the VHP would announce its future course of action if the state government failed to act firmly and immediately.

During the protest, demonstrators raised slogans against Bangladesh and burnt an effigy as a symbolic act. Police monitored the situation, and normalcy was restored after some time.
