Gas cylinder fire injures woman in Hasthinapuram

Hyderabad: A gas cylinder fire injured two women at a house in Hasthinapuram on Saturday, police said.

Police identified the complainant as K. Venkatesh, a resident of Srinagar Colony. He approached the police around 4 pm on January 10. He said his family was hosting a function, and relatives had arrived from their native place.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 10.42 am. Family members placed water on a gas stove to prepare for bathing arrangements. At that moment, flames burst out from the gas cylinder regulator and quickly spread inside the house.

As relatives rushed outside, two women remained trapped indoors. Venkatesh’s mother-in-law, Bhagyamma (48), suffered burns on her face and hands. His sister, Saritha (32), also sustained burns on her hands and other parts of her body.

Gas Cylinder fire damages household items

Family members rescued both women through a window. They immediately shifted them by car to Sai Nursing Home for treatment.

The fire destroyed several household items. These included a television, refrigerator, sofa, ceiling fans, and a kuttu machine.

Police registered a case under Crime No. 58/2026. Officials said they are taking further action as per law.
