Travel bus fire near Kovvur bridge leaves vehicle gutted
Hyderabad: A travel bus fire near Kovvur bridge in East Godavari district completely gutted a private RRR Travels vehicle on Tuesday, although all 10 passengers escaped without injury due to the driver’s timely action.
The bus was travelling from Khammam to Visakhapatnam when flames erupted near the bridge at Kovvur. According to initial information, the driver noticed smoke and immediately stopped the vehicle, urging passengers to get down before the fire spread.
Passengers moved to a safe distance within minutes. Soon after, the fire intensified and engulfed the entire bus, leaving it reduced to a charred shell. Local residents alerted emergency services as thick smoke rose from the scene.
Cause of travel bus fire identified as short circuit
Preliminary findings indicated that the travel bus fire was triggered by a short circuit in the vehicle. Fire personnel later brought the blaze under control, but the bus was already completely destroyed.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the incident. Traffic on the route was briefly affected before normal movement resumed. Further inspection of the bus was taken up to confirm the exact sequence of events leading to the fire.
