Telangana local body elections review held by state election body

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission convened a meeting on Saturday to discuss preparations for the upcoming Telangana local body elections. State Election Commissioner Ranikumudini met senior officials from multiple departments to review the administrative readiness for conducting the polls.
Among those present were Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat, principal secretaries of the Panchayat Raj and Finance departments, and the Excise Commissioner. The meeting focused on coordination between departments to ensure the smooth execution of election duties.
Preparations after BC reservation orders for local body polls
The discussions came a day after the Telangana government issued orders implementing 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes in local bodies. This decision cleared a key hurdle, allowing the election schedule to be finalised.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had earlier directed officials to gear up for the polls, signalling that the formal announcement could come soon. With the reservation policy in place, the State Election Commission is expected to complete final arrangements in the coming days.
The meeting in Hyderabad underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination for conducting the Telangana local body elections without administrative hurdles.
