Nude morphing blackmail drives Hyderabad man to suicide

Nude morphing blackmail case ends in suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 36-year-old man died by suicide in the Ramnagar area after allegedly being subjected to nude morphing blackmail by unidentified cyber fraudsters, police said.

The deceased, identified as Prem Kumar, was reportedly under severe mental distress after unknown persons sent him morphed nude photographs and threatened to circulate them among his family members. The accused allegedly demanded ₹3,000 and warned that failure to pay would result in the release of nude photos and videos of his relatives.

According to police, Prem Kumar’s family members and wife advised him not to panic and cautioned that paying money would only lead to repeated demands. They urged him to approach the police and assured him of their support. Despite this, the continued threats allegedly pushed him into extreme psychological stress.

Unable to cope with the pressure, Prem Kumar allegedly ended his life by hanging at his residence. Following a complaint lodged by family members, police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the cybercriminals involved.

Nude morphing blackmail highlights cybercrime threat

Police said the nude morphing blackmail case underlined the growing menace of cyber extortion targeting unsuspecting individuals. Officials reiterated that succumbing to blackmail demands often worsened the situation and encouraged victims to report such crimes immediately.

Cybercrime officials advised the public not to panic if they receive threatening messages involving morphed images. They stressed that no amount of money would stop blackmailers once payments begin.

Authorities urged victims to contact the nearest police station or dial the cybercrime helpline number 1930 without delay. Police said timely reporting could help prevent further harm and assist investigators in tracking offenders.
