Hyderabad: The National Disaster Response Force conducted a large-scale disaster preparedness mock drill at the Shamshabad airport premises in Rangareddy district on Wednesday to demonstrate rescue operations during natural calamities and emergencies.

During the exercise, NDRF personnel explained the response mechanisms followed during incidents such as building collapses, landslides, major floods, fire accidents, and cyclones. Officials said the mock drill focused on how victims could be rescued efficiently and how citizens could protect themselves in the initial stages of a disaster.

The team demonstrated real-time rescue techniques and emergency response protocols, while also educating airport officials, staff, and other departments on coordination during unforeseen disasters. The exercise aimed to enhance preparedness and minimise loss of life during emergencies.

Officials said such drills were essential at sensitive locations like airports, where coordinated and timely response played a crucial role in disaster management.
