Appointment letters issued to 1,257 lab technicians at Osmania Medical College

Lab technician appointments formalised at Osmania College

Hyderabad: The government formally appointed 1,257 newly selected lab technicians on Tuesday at Osmania Medical College. Ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha and Ponnam Prabhakar distributed appointment letters during the programme.

Several dignitaries attended the event, including Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, local corporator Surekha Om Prakash, Medical and Health Department Secretary Christina Z Chongthu, and senior officials. These appointments significantly strengthen diagnostic services in government hospitals across Telangana.

While addressing the gathering, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar conveyed Sankranti greetings to the candidates and congratulated them on securing government jobs. He said modern healthcare relies heavily on accurate diagnostics. According to him, doctors now base most treatment decisions on laboratory reports rather than symptoms alone.

Highlighting their role, the minister described lab technicians as the “eyes and ears” of doctors. He urged them to treat patients with empathy and responsibility. Patients, he added, should feel relief the moment they interact with healthcare staff.

Appointments part of wider health infrastructure push

Meanwhile, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar credited Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha for driving infrastructure development at major institutions such as Gandhi, Osmania, and Kakatiya Medical Colleges and hospitals. He pointed out that the hostel building under construction at Osmania reflects the government’s commitment to improving facilities.

Speaking about his constituency, the minister said authorities are constructing a 250-bed hospital in Husnabad with the support of Damodar Raja Narasimha. Additionally, officials have taken special steps to address the high number of dialysis cases in the area.

Beyond healthcare, the minister said the government is developing Husnabad as a plastic-free constituency. Under this initiative, authorities distributed steel banks to 280 women’s self-help groups. They also provided glass tumblers to over 500 hotels to curb plastic use and reduce cancer-related health risks.
