Kavitha seeks Council floor time before resignation acceptance, warns CM over remarks on KCR

Kavitha resignation Council issue: floor time sought before approval

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha said she requested time to speak in the Legislative Council before accepting her resignation. She added that the Council Chairman assured her of an opportunity on January 5 or 6.

During a meeting with Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy, Kavitha discussed the status of her resignation, which has remained pending for four months. Later, speaking to reporters at the Council media point, she said she wanted to explain her reasons on the House floor before formal acceptance.

According to Kavitha, the Chairman agreed to give her time on January 5. She said she would use the opportunity to present facts before the people of Telangana. She also stressed that parliamentary procedures must be followed strictly.

Meanwhile, Kavitha strongly criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for comparing former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to a terrorist. She described the remarks as inappropriate and urged the Chief Minister to change his language.

Kavitha targets CM over resignation and irrigation issues

Turning to irrigation matters, Kavitha said it was “100 per cent true” that not a single acre had received water through the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme in the last 12 years. She rejected the allegation that the BRS deliberately delayed the project for a decade.

She argued that no one should compare KCR, who led a mass agitation, to terrorists. She also criticised statements calling for violence or harsh punishment. According to her, such remarks undermine the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office. She asserted that Telangana came into existence due to KCR’s struggle and said personal attacks against him were unacceptable.

Questioning administrative decisions, Kavitha asked why authorities shifted the Palamuru–Rangareddy project intake point. She said only KCR could explain that move. Additionally, she alleged that “proxy leaders” were responding to key issues, which, she said, confused the public.

Kavitha further claimed that Andhra Pradesh leaders acted in unity to protect their water interests. In contrast, she said Telangana leaders lacked similar resolve. Referring to irrigation projects such as Bheema, Nettampadu and Kalwakurthy, she alleged that farmers suffered due to poor administration and delayed maintenance.

Finally, Kavitha said she would formally raise all these issues in the Council on January 5 before the acceptance of her resignation. She also extended New Year greetings to the people of Telangana and reaffirmed her commitment to place facts before the public.
