Jubilee Hills flyover planned to ease Road No. 45 traffic

Jubilee Hills flyover to ease Road No. 45 congestion

Hyderabad: The state government has planned a new Jubilee Hills flyover after HMDA decided to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for a 9-km elevated corridor from the ICCC in Banjara Hills to Shilpa Layout Flyover Road, officials said.

To begin with, HMDA will appoint a consultant to design the corridor. Officials said the project will significantly ease traffic pressure at major junctions in west and central Hyderabad. Moreover, the corridor aims to create a continuous elevated link between the core city and the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Once completed, the Jubilee Hills flyover will reduce chronic congestion on Road No. 45, Film Nagar, and the Jubilee Hills checkpost. In addition, it will ease traffic moving from Meenakshi Towers towards Hi-Tech City, a stretch that currently experiences heavy peak-hour delays.

The corridor will also improve connectivity for commuters travelling towards Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Nanakramguda, and office hubs in the Financial District. Furthermore, officials said the alignment will help distribute traffic more evenly by providing a signal-free elevated route.

Jubilee Hills flyover to improve Financial District access

According to HMDA, the flyover will directly benefit IT employees and thousands of residents living in housing societies across the Financial District. Notably, the elevated corridor will serve as a key entry and exit route between the ORR zone and the inner city via Banjara Hills.

Meanwhile, this proposal marks the third elevated corridor planned by HMDA in recent months. Two similar projects are already in the pipeline on NH-44, connecting Paradise Junction to Shamirpet ORR and Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road.

“We will appoint a consultant to prepare the DPR for the elevated corridor from ICCC to Shilpa Layout Flyover Road,” an HMDA official said. “Importantly, we will design the flyover so that the same pier system can support a future metro line on this route.”
