Indigo flight cancellations disrupt Hyderabad travel

Indigo Flight

Hyderabad: Operations at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport took a major hit on Saturday as widespread IndiGo flight cancellations disrupted travel for hundreds of passengers. IndiGo cancelled 69 flights in total — 26 inbound and 43 outbound — causing long delays and uncertainty across the airport.

Many travellers waited for hours, while some postponed their journeys and others searched for alternate routes. Passengers with medical needs faced additional difficulty as the situation kept changing.

Rail and bus services activated in response to Indigo flight cancellations

To manage the disruption, the South Central Railway introduced several special trains. These connected Secunderabad with Chennai Egmore, Charlapalli with Shalimar and Santragachi, Hyderabad with Mumbai LTT and Pune, and Charlapalli with Yelahanka. CPRO Sridhar said berths were available and reservations remained open for affected travellers.

Furthermore, Railway authorities added 114 extra trips nationwide by deploying 116 additional coaches across 37 premium trains. Several express services were already operating with extra coaches to accommodate increased passenger traffic.

Meanwhile, TSRTC activated emergency sleeper bus services directly from the airport. Two buses kept at Arrival Ramp Pillar No. 8 left for Chennai and Bengaluru, priced at ₹2,110 and ₹1,670 respectively. Additionally, buses to Rajahmundry, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam were arranged from Zone-D. Officials said they had planned these services in advance, anticipating higher weekend demand. The special buses departed on Saturday evening, and more will be added based on passenger requirements.
