Hyderabad Vijayawada highway traffic jam causes chaos before Dasara

Hyderabad: Thousands of people heading to their hometowns for the Dasara festival created massive traffic jam on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway on Saturday. The sudden surge of traffic left vehicles stranded for kilometers near Hayathnagar. RTC buses, private cars, and other vehicles moved at a snail’s pace due to the rush.
Adding to the crisis, continuous heavy rains worsened road conditions. At Abdullapurmet mandal’s Gourelli, floodwaters overflowed from a bridge, halting vehicle movement. Authorities set up barricades and issued warnings to local residents to remain alert.

Traffic slowed further at Uppal crossroads, where rainwater disrupted flow. Vehicles moved in long queues, while buses heading to districts were diverted at Dilsukhnagar, causing further blockages.
The Hyderabad Vijayawada highway traffic jam highlighted the combined impact of festival travel and adverse weather, leaving commuters facing long delays.
