Hyderabad elderly man loses ₹7.11 lakh in cyber fraud
Hyderabad: An 81-year-old resident of Ameerpet in Hyderabad was cheated of ₹7.11 lakh in a cyber fraud case. Police said the elderly man was targeted by scammers who befriended him online and persuaded him to transfer money over several transactions.

According to officials, the incident began in June when the victim received WhatsApp calls and messages from a woman identifying herself as Maya Rajput. She gained his trust and claimed she needed money for medical expenses and to release pledged jewellery. Believing her story, the man sent funds in multiple installments.
When the fraudsters demanded more money, the victim grew suspicious and sought the help of his family. He later approached the Cyber Crime Police and filed a complaint. Investigators have registered a case and started tracing the suspects involved.
