Evacuations follow Hong Kong fire incident as search efforts continue

Hyderabad: A severe blaze in the Tai Po district of Hong Kong triggered a major emergency response. The fire started in one building during the afternoon. It then spread across six additional towers. Dense smoke filled the area within minutes. Residents tried to escape as conditions worsened. Many called emergency services for help.

Authorities reported 44 deaths. They also stated that over 250 residents remain missing. A firefighter lost his life. Several personnel required medical attention. The government evacuated more than 900 people. Many others were taken to temporary shelters. Large teams continued search operations into the night.

Rescue teams expand efforts amid the Hong Kong fire incident

The Hong Kong fire incident led to the arrest of two construction directors and a consultant. Police found flammable polystyrene boards on window sections. They said these materials spread the flames rapidly. The fire also climbed bamboo supports. This caused burning clusters to fall against nearby structures. The intensity of the smoke was visible in viral videos.

The Fire Services Department deployed large resources. More than 140 fire engines and 60 ambulances reached the site. Hundreds of firefighters and police officers joined the operation. They received many emergency calls. The team worked under extreme heat and heavy smoke. Their focus remained on preventing further spread.

Chief Executive John Lee assured the public of a detailed inquiry. He confirmed that a special investigation team has been formed. He added that conditions remained complex. The Wang Fuk Court estate includes 1,984 units and nearly 4,000 residents. Authorities shifted many victims to government shelters. Support systems remain active for affected families.
